The Sites Top

The Competition Sites comprises two pedestrian link systems as follows (refer to Competition Document Annex 4 for information on the Sites and Sites plans):
  1. A pedestrian system with vertical links or other applicable systems between Yuet Wah Street and Kwun Tong MTR Station Entrance D1/D2 and Kwun Tong Road; and
    Kwun Tong Road

  2. An elevated pedestrian system with vertical links to the street level across Hip Wo Street near the junction of Hip Wo Street / Mut Wah Street

A participant of this Competition must submit ideas and design concepts for the Sites including both the above pedestrian link systems for each Entry.
 
Entry Groups Top

  • The Professional Group is open to Full / Professional / Fellow members of The Hong Kong Institute of Architects, The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, The Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors, The Hong Kong Institute of Planners and The Hong Kong Institute of Landscape Architects. Graduate, associate or student members or any category of members other than the above specified categories are only eligible to participate in the Open Group. Entries made by companies will not be accepted. There is no limitation on the number of Entries each individual member may submit and there is no limitation on the number of collaborative Entries in which each individual member may participate. However, each Entry Form shall be used for one Entry only.

  • The Open Group is open to all Hong Kong residents holding valid Hong Kong Identity Cards, including all categories of members of the aforementioned professional institutes. Participants who have submitted Entries or are submitting Entries for the Professional Group are not allowed to enter or participate in preparation of Entries in the Open Group. There is no limitation on the number of Entries each individual member may submit and there is no limitation on the number of collaborative Entries in which each individual member may participate. However, each Entry Form shall be used for one Entry only.

    Deliverables Top

    Entries for the Professional Group shall comprise:
    1. 1. Three A1 size (594mm x 840mm; maximum 13mm thick) foam board panels in landscape layout format and numbered at the back for presentation and display purpose as below:

      The presentation shall comprise Site Plan, Layout Plans, Cross-section(s), Elevation(s), Perspective(s) and/or other illustrations that can illustrate the ideas and design concepts. The scale of the Layout Plans, Cross-section(s) and Elevation(s) must not be smaller than 1:250;
    2. An explanatory statement of the ideas and design concepts in not more than 150 words in either Chinese or English, each printed on one A4 page and the text shall be at font size 12;
    3. A CD-ROM containing an electronic version of Item (1) above in full-scale and a high resolution A4 jpeg/png format and item (2) above in doc format; and
    4. A sealed opaque envelope (size 240mm x 115mm) clearly marked with “New Links.New Kwun Tong Design Ideas Competition” enclosing a duly completed and signed Entry Form (Annex 1) and a certified true copy of the proof of eligibility (see paragraph 5 above). In the case of a collaborative Entry, all team members are required to sign the Entry Form.
     
    Entries for the Open Group Competition shall comprise:

    1. Two A1 size (594mm x 840mm; maximum 13mm thick) foam board panels in landscape layout format and numbered at the back for presentation and display purpose as below:

    All panels for the Professional Group and Open Group Entries must be completely flat.
    Any Entry with attachment on the panels will be disqualified. Entries in electronic or multi-media format, except the electronic versions of the Entry specified above, will not be accepted.
     
    Registration

    Interested Participants should first register in the Competition by submitting to the Professional Adviser by email on or before 9 October 2009 the entry form in Competition Document Annex 1 (“Entry Form”), duly completed and signed.

    Entry Submission Top

    Entries can be sent by post or delivered by hand to the following address between 2 November 2009 and 9 November 2009 but must reach before 5:00 p.m. (Hong Kong time) on 9 November 2009:

    Entries receiving hours: Mon-Fri: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    A sealed opaque envelope (size 240mm x 115mm) clearly marked with “New Links.New Kwun Tong Design Ideas Competition” enclosing a duly completed and signed Entry Form (Competition Document Annex 1) should be stuck at the back of the Entry. For Professional Group Participants, a certified true copy of the proof of eligibility shall be submitted together with the Entry Form.

    Late Entries will not be accepted. The Professional Adviser has the right to require the Participant to submit or re-submit a duly completed and signed Entry Form within a period specified by the Professional Adviser. Subject to the foregoing, new or additional information provided by Participants after their submission of Entry shall not be accepted or considered. The Professional Adviser reserves the right to disqualify the Entry of any Participant who fails to submit or re-submit a duly completed and signed Entry Form as required by the Professional Adviser. If Black Rainstorm Warning or No. 8 Typhoon Signal or above is being issued three hours before Submission Deadline, the deadline will be postponed to 5:00 p.m. on the next working day.

    For the purpose of this Competition Document, “working day” means any day from Monday to Friday other than a public holiday, or a gale warning day or black rainstorm warning day as defined in Section 71(2) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance (Cap. 1).No responsibility will be taken by the Co-organisers, the Organising Committee, the Jury and the Professional Adviser for the failure of postal delivery of any document.
